The World of Music Was Shocked

Until recently, it seemed like this week's column would be filled with usual fodder--a couple of trials, a couple arrests, an awards show or two, some Guns N' Roses rumors, a bit of Madonna gossip, etc.

But then, on Friday, tragedy struck.

At 2:44pm Friday afternoon, Jennifer Hudson's brother, Jason Hudson, and her mother, Darnell Donerson, were found dead by shotgun blast in Jennifer's mother's Chicago home. The bodies were discovered by Jennifer's cousin, who lived nearby. Additionally, Darnell's 7-year-old grandson, Julian King, was reportedly abducted from the scene--possibly by the suspect in this tragic double murder.

This news comes at a time when Jennifer should be enjoying the happiest time of her life--she just released her debut album, she's about to hit the silver screen again in the highly anticipated The Secret Life Of Bees, and she just got engaged to her lawyer/reality-star boyfriend, David "Punk" Otunga. But now, just as the dreamgirl is about to have all her dreams come true, she is instead facing this ultimate nightmare.

We here at That's Really Week send our deepest condolences to Jennifer and the entire Hudson family at this extremely tragic time.

Philip Nolasco - First Grand Little Dreamer

Last October 04, 2008 PDA Little Grand Dream Night was held at Dolphy Theatre inside the ABS-CBN compound. PDA is one of the reality shows here in the Philippines aired by ABS-CBN network. PDA mentors taught their scholars of different singing techniques to make them more competitive.

Little Dreamers is just a special show that is televised along with PDA Big Dreamers that was just ended last September 2008. Going back to the Grand Dream Night of the Little Dreamers, the show was started with an intermission number by the top six little dreamers. If you have witnessed their journey you will really appreciate the kids, they were cute, smart and talented. Some of them were known as future rock star, little belter, heartrob, darling of the crowds and many more.

In the middle of the show, the bottom three was announced and they were Cristina from Cavite, Risie from Palawan, and Aubrey. Honestly, I was really affected with the result, but as the saying goes, "in any game, there's always a winner and a loser".

After the announcement of the bottom three, the top three little dreamers sung their contest piece Angelo (I Want To Break Free), Amy (Ako Ang Nagwagi) and Philip (You Raised Me Up). After delivering their pieces, a short intermission number was given by the top six big dreamers.
And now the moment we have all been waiting for, the announcement of winners, on third place was Angelo, second was Amy, and the Grand Little Dreamer was Philip Nolasco from General Santos City.

So, let us just wait what will happen to these cute kids in the music industry.

At Last She's a STAR

Last Nights Gala Performance was really disgusting for me. But anyways, here is what happened.

Laarni Losola after belting out her rendition of the song "On The Wings Of Love - by Regine Velasques" finally she was proclaimed the star scholar of the night. Last night's theme was counterpointing and for me it was really hard. Her counterpart Bugoy was also on the top 3 after delivering Back At One by Brian McKnight.

On the other news, Bunny was expelled of the academy after one week voting. Her co-scholar Hansen was saved from the expulsion.

He is Taking it Personally

Pinoy Dream Academy is one reality show aired in the Philippines at primetime. The reality show showcase the singing talent of the Filipinos. Every Saturday the "scholars" performs in the concert hall of the academy. Consequently, after the performance the jurors determines who will be on probation (which later to be evicted in the academy). Also, the co-scholars have the chance to vote who will stay in the academy.

Recently, there were 4 scholars who are on the bottom and two of them can be saved by the dream mentors and the other is by the scholars. I cannot understand why Hansen (one of the bottom 4) is taking it personally when Cristina vote Miguel over him. it is just a game right?

Pinoy Dream Academy

Pinoy Dream Academy is one the reality program here in the Philipines. It is a reality show that showcase the Filipino talents when it comes singing.

As of now, it has 10 scholars and 1 honorary scholar battling out for the title. But tonight, it is either Miguel, Apple, or Laarni will go out of the academy. Support your favorite singer to make to the top.
